There is a Lid for Every Pot!

So maybe I should go to Ikea in search of some kitchenware and then I can find a man? Haha Well it is definitely funny how life does not always work out the way you think it will or want it to. But then again, it is also funny how what you want can morph right along with all of the changes life brings. And right now, I really want: my friends and family members to visit, a cheeseburger, and a night of breaking it down on the dance floor!!! Still loving life in the Windy City and working hard...so I can play hard!!

Finally!!!!!!!!!!

Hi peeps! It has been a while! Sorry I am not going to apologize for not blogging in a while...because this was a creation of the unemployed Sarah (for which I remain rather surprised I even accomplished this aka stooped to this level) . I am pleased to announce I finally have an amazing job/income/purpose in life. I am a Recreation Therapist at a Veterans Hospital working on an inpatient spinal cord injury/disorder unit. It is pretty close to my DREAM JOB! I catch myself thinking, "They pay me for this?!" just about every day.

Blah blah enough of that happy garbage..don't want to rub it in for all of you people working to get a paycheck or not working at all because I have been there, done that.

So another update, I am obviously living in Chicago now. That is fabulous as well! I can't imagine wanting to leave this city anytime soon (but ask me in February when the weather drops below zero and I am peeing icicles) . My previously mentioned bf, Justin, relocated as well...it's amazing what can be accomplished with the use of profanity. But nonetheless, he's here and loving it as well! He just got a job with the Apple store on Michigan Ave. (the "Magnificent Mile"). He wears his glasses everyday to work to fit in with all the geeks and nerds but claims, "It's because he looks at computers all day." And the PC vs MAC debate still continues in this household so do not think I am backing down!

Now to be honest, I just could not remember my password....I figured it out. Hence the new post :) Peace, love, and God bless!

Words of wisdom

Written By Regina Brett

90 years old

Cleveland, Ohio

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It
is the most-requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:"

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick.
Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to
disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying
alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the
present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea
what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't
be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But
don't worry; God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or
joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you
stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But
the second one is up to you, make it better than yours.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life,
don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy
lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear
purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In
five years, will this matter?'

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your
business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give it time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of
anything you did or didn't do.

35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it
now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone
else's, we'd grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

42. The best is yet to come.

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

44. Yield.

45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a
gift.

Economy, shonomy....

I have had many a discussions with my bff about how I think it is nice to have a specialized field of study when looking for a job. My argument (for lack of a better word since this topic was actually one we did not really stubbornly argue about...surprisingly) was that I am more aware of what jobs I can do and have been trained for specific purposes.

POINT BROKEN DOWN WITH MINIMAL RAMBLING:
I studied Therapeutic Recreation in school. Okay, I did more than just study it...I got a degree in it. Now, I know I am to seek a job as a Recreation Therapist.

Bff studied Communications (I hope that is what she said, but we were at Taco Bell when this discussion was happening so needless to say I was more than slightly distracted). So what does she look for a job in? There are not any listings for a Communicator, at least that I have seen.

THIS IS THE PART I AM A LITTLE BIT WRONG FOR ONCE:
I am having a hell of a time finding a job as a Recreation Therapist! I have applied to many different settings, pulled out all of the stops I can think of to make myself stand out (minus giving lap dances because I do not think my bf would like that), remained persistant, and continue to add on the volume of applications I complete (now somewhere around 9847656373829475 I imagine). But because our field is so small and specialized, I am left out in the cold for the time being. Thank goodness this "cold" I am referring to is actually sunny 100 degree weather with all day to eat, sleep, drink, read, and play on the computer.

Sarah, why don't you look for jobs outside of your specialty and come back to it when something opens?

You don't think I have tried that also? It is truly a sad economy when you are driving around from place to place begging for a job as a CNA (certified nurses assistant=butt wiper). That's right....I am begging to wipe butts and no one wants me to wipe their butt or cannot afford my butt wiping services. Shitty, huh? Pun intended.

UNTIL THEN:
I am loving life, crossing my fingers, and praying the right job will come along soon. At least I finally scored an interview Monday so someone, somewhere actually looked at my application and thinks I could be a worthy human being. And, my bf is very generous to the unemployed chick who won't leave his house. For this, I am grateful.

Banannas, rubber duckies, lemons, Big Bird, teeth. Which one doesn't belong?

I think it is VERY important in this world for everyone to have white teeth. I am not one of those stuck up bitches who thinks everyone should carry a designer bag or can only wear clothes from high end stores (mostly because I cannot afford this....I am hoping to be in this category soon, just pretending I am against this way of thinking due to the financially unfortunate situation I find myself in currently, most call it unemployment) but I think it is CRUCIAL to have white teeth. It is now more affordable than ever with Crest White Strips. I am not a commercial or paid to endorse them (or again, as stated I would not pretend I was above making Jimmy Choos a MUST HAVE) but I know they work.

FACTS:
1. Today, my bff told me her goal was to have teeth as white as mine.
2. My dad is constantly telling me "you could be a teeth model"
3. My teeth are my most complimented feature.

So here lies the truth that you can be overweight, unemployed, and often bitchy...and still get compliments! Now, is $35 worth that AND keeping your dignity while preventing others (mainly me) from talking crap about your stained teeth?

ANOTHER FACT:
I once refused to date a guy who had really grossly yellow teeth and begged his friend to tell him to bleach them. He refused. And so did I to ever talk to him again.

HINT FOR THE FUTURE:
If you find yourself in this situation with friends, significant others, or family members...I suggest you just buy them a box of CWS's and leave them on their doorstep. They will never know it was you and you can feel good knowing you really helped someone. If they ask you about it, say, "wow, that was really nice. Hell, it's free you may as well use them!" And we are solving the problems of the world....one tooth at a time.

*Sidenote: I just realized two of my favorite things in life are both abbreviated CWS. That is of course the aformentioned Crest White Strips and...the legendary Crunch Wrap Supreme. LOVE IT.
